Maximizing the Capacity with a Magnifier
Magnifiers are designed to be mounted behind a red dot sight with a view to bring your target closer and maximize the versatility of your rifle. A few years back, Vortex Optics introduced the Micro 3X magnifier. Now, in 2022, the Micro 6X is here (presented at the 2022 SHOT Show). By using a magnifier in a figurative sense, we can also take a closer look at Vortex’s new product in this article.
Take it 6x Farther
What features does the new Micro 6X bring to the table? The magnifier is compact, durable, as well as robust – all the qualities you might be looking for. Vortex says it “stands up to hard use in the field”, as it is designed to withstand harsh weather conditions and the highest levels of recoil and impact.
The magnifier has different mounting heights so you can opt for the most appropriate one for your setup:
- Absolute Co-Witness, and
- Lower 1/3 Co-Witness
The magnifier is simple to attach and remove, and the adjustable flip mount ensures the device is suitable for left, as well as right-handed users. The recessed turrets also prevent any accidental adjustments.
The 6X magnifier is waterproof and fog-proof due to the O-ring seal and dry gas inside, which means you do not have to take harsh weather conditions out of the picture. Vortex also increased the light transmission rate with anti-reflective coatings – the 6X performs better in low-light, and the image is clearer.

Micro 6X Vs. Micro 3X
What are the differences between the 3X and 6X models? The main, and the most obvious difference is that one offers 3x magnification, and the other 6x. If we compare the length, Micro 6X (10.9 cm) is longer than Micro 3X (7.4 cm). Their eye relief is also different, namely 67.6 mm on the 3X and 63.5 mm on the 6X. When it comes to the weight, Micro 6X weighs 309 g, while Micro 3X is only slightly lighter at 270.7 g. Both magnifiers, however, come with the same QD flip mount and 2 risers.
