Introduction

Sightron is a Japanese owned company with the headquarters in Youngsville, North Carolina. The company was founded in 1993, and it quickly gained a good reputation thanks to great products available for a reasonable price. This rifle scope has been on the market since 2002, so it is a true legendary rifle scope. They are still produced today, with only a small difference from the earlier model. The reticle in the earlier model was a wire reticle, and since 2011, Sightron has been using a glass-etched one. The quality of this rifle scope is on an extremely high level, especially if you consider the small price of just 549 EUR. This Sightron was the first real competitor against the well-known Weaver T-series 36×40, which has recently been discontinued.

As mentioned, this rifle scope was designed for centerfire and rimfire benchrest rifles for ultimate precision. Because of that, the scope features a big fixed magnification of 36x for a sharp and detailed image of the target.

To adjust the image perfectly on a given distance, a parallax adjustment ring is located on the objective of the scope. It is adjustable from 15 yards (13.7 meters) to infinity, with 720 degrees of rotation (2 whole rotations). Because of the big rotation range, the parallax is finely adjustable, so the scope’s point of impact won’t change when moving in front of the ocular. The unique feature of this rifle scope is the parallax locking function, so the user doesn’t have to worry that the parallax adjustment changes during a shooting competition.

The whole rifle scope body is made from a one-piece aircraft-grade aluminum, which is 1 inch thick in the clamping area and is completely waterproof and fog proof, thanks to the nitrogen filling. It is amazingly lightweight with only 490 grams.

The target turrets are adjustable with 1/8 MOA per click, and the reticle is very thin with a 1/8 MOA dot in the middle for easy aiming. The turrets are resettable to zero. This scope features the Sightron ExacTrack elevation and windage adjustment for ultimate precision and repeatability. It has 75 MOA (22 MIL) of internal adjustment, making it possible for the users to shoot at targets far away. For great optical quality and a bright picture, all lenses are fully multi-coated.

Conclusion

Even though Sightron SII has been on the market for almost 20 years, it is still a rifle scope that can impress. It is ideal for shooting paper targets at various distances, and thanks to the big magnification, the holes are easily visible on the target.
