Nightforce is one of the leading manufacturers of high-quality optics for professional use. They are specialized in the production of rifle scopes, spotting scopes, and some accessories like mounts, bases, tool kits and so on. Whatsoever, their focus are top-notch rifle scopes, which are some of the most durable, reliable and repeatable on the market. Because of that, they are widely used by the military, police and law enforcement.
Nightforce Wedge Prism
Nightforce scopes are also widely used for ELR competitions like King of 2 Miles, and because of the extreme ranges the competitors are shooting at, no scope on the market (except for the March Genesis 6-60×56) has enough elevation to dial. At Shot Show 2020, whatsoever, Nightforce introduced their new Wedge Prism, which is mounted in front of the rifle scope and optically shifts the incoming image. What does this mean for shooters? Indirectly, they get more elevation in the rifle scope, so they can engage more distant targets.
Whatsoever, the design of the Wedge Prism of Nightforce is innovative and very simple to use/install. It features a QD mount for mounting on a Picatinny rail in front of a daytime rifle scope and provides a repeatable offset of the optical image. It weighs only 262 or 268 grams, depending on the model. This small weight is not even noticeable on those heavy ELR rifles.
One important information is that it can be mounted in front of all daytime rifle scopes, no matter the brand or the objective diameter of the scope. It is available in 2 variants – 50 MOA/14.5 MRAD or 100 MOA/29.1 MRAD. Whatsoever, the exact elevation shift is measured for each unit and engraved on the housing for a reference in the field. The Wedge prism comes in a Molle padded carrying case, with a flip-up lens cover and a lens cleaning kit.
The Nightforce Wedge Prism will definitely be very popular among all shooters that want to push the limits of their rifle cartridge. We think that especially in the ELR community the Wedge Prism will get a great reputation, but it is also a great device for shorter ranges for calibers like the .22LR, .300 AAC and others, that have a big bullet drop – this drastically increases the effective range of these calibers.
