Vortex is an incredibly versatile company in the field of sports optics – they make riflescopes, binoculars, spotting scopes, mounts, and all sorts of other things – they even sell shirts, hoodies, and hats of all sorts with a Vortex logo on them. Since their establishment in 2002, they have really made a great impact on the optics industry. This is one of the many reasons why I never leave Shot Show without visiting their booth. This year, they’ve come up with a bunch of great things. In this article, I will focus on their new Pro Series mounts.
These brand-new Picatinny/Weaver rings will be available for the two most commonly used tube diameters – 25.4 mm and 30 mm. For the inch tube, they will be made in two heights (low and medium), while for the 30 mm tube, 4 heights will be offered (low, medium, high, extra high). The high and extra-high variants are of the ‘see-through’ type – this way, a lower mass is achieved, and the user can still aim using the iron sights on the rifle. Precisely machined from 7075 T6 aluminum, these durable rings are capable of withstanding a great dose of recoil.
A recoil lug is integrated for extra protection – it will fit both Weaver and Picatinny rails. Vortex used a durable matte black anodize for the finish. On the body, torque specs are engraved which is very helpful during the mounting procedure. Currently, only a fixed version of these rings has been announced (a torx screwdriver must be used to secure them on a Picatinny rail). They are made in the USA.
The retail price for the Pro Series rings is 90 $. They are already available in the US. Vortex’s great VIP warranty has you covered should anything go wrong.
