Kahles Helia S Binoculars

Despite the rapid development and broader usage of night vision and thermal imaging devices, a pair of binoculars is an indispensable hunting accessory. Many seek to buy all-round binoculars, choosing between 8×42 and 10×42 configurations. With quality, sharp-image binoculars, we can give a reliable estimate of the game before shooting. Speaking of quality in sports optics, we can not avoid mentioning renowned European manufacturers, Kahles being one of them.

Kahles has recently introduced a new series of binoculars, Helia S, including two models: 8×42 and 10×42. Swarovski, the owner of Kahles for more than forty years, eliminated the two SLC models of the same configurations, which dominated in the €1700-odd price range. Helia S is actually SLC in a new guise. Anyone who has used SLC knows that it boasts top-notch optics, and Kahles Helia S comes at an even lower price: only €1500.

A couple of years ago, Kahles completely changed its brand image, including its logo. Boldly, it changed the blue color to brown and orange. These two colors also coat its binoculars. Especially worth mentioning are quality, multiple-position eyepieces suitable for glasses-wearers, used also by Swarovski on its binoculars. The focusing knob can, outstandingly, rotate by more than two turns. That is a superb feature for hunting purposes.

The salient feature of Helia S binoculars is certainly quality optics, which should be every hunter’s major concern. While looking through the binoculars, the image fills the field of view almost completely, creating an impression of being “in the image.” It is primarily due to high-quality optical coatings that the image is sharp even at the edges, with lively colors and a good contrast ratio. The inside is filled with nitrogen, preventing fogging at low temperatures, while tightly-sealed housing contributes to water resistance.

Already Swarovski SLC had practically no competition in the field of optical features in its price range. Thus, the price of only €1500 for Kahles Helia S comes at a bargain. If you are hunting for prime but low-price binoculars, then Helia S is an excellent choice. The binoculars come with a ten-years warranty.
