C-more RTS2

Introduction

C-more is a well-known brand among handgun sport shooting competition enthusiasts in America. Unfortunately, people are still quite unfamiliar with it here in Europe. These devices are not named “world champion sights“ just because it sounds good – world champions in sport shooting with a handgun actually use these. RTS2, a reflex red dot sight for handguns, is an upgraded version of RTS.

Physical properties

RTS2 is of small size but a little bit bigger than STS2. Together with the package-included Picatinny/Weaver rail mount (which you can also remove), it weighs 67 grams. Its window is bigger than STS2’s window in terms of height (the difference can be seen in the picture below) which allows even faster target acquisition. Because of the size of its window it is a little less suitable for EDC (everyday carry) as STS2. The lens is round-shaped and tilted to provide clear, unobstructed vision. The glass is coated to prevent abrasion and increase light transmission. Elevation and windage adjustments are made with the help of two screws (1 click equals 1 MOA = about 1.5 cm on 50 m). Before making any changes, the user has to make sure to unscrew the lock screw one turn and a half. The battery tray, which holds a CR2032 battery, is located on the right side of the device, making battery replacement a simple task even when the sight is mounted on a gun (no need for dismounting). The tray is pried out of the device with a screwdriver. RTS2 can withstand extreme conditions and C-more ensures that it still operates without problems on -25 °C. It is made of aluminum. RTS2 has a considerably thicker lower part than RTS gen. 1 – some users might find that problematic when aiming because the sight will sit higher on the handgun. However, some handguns have pre-designed slots for a red dot sight. In that case, the user is able to mount the sight considerably lower – in that case, this is a great feature.

Optical properties

C-more managed to improve the optical qualities of RTS by getting rid of the obtrusive blue tint. The user can easily look through the device with both eyes open as it operates on 1x magnification. There are three models on the market – 3-MOA dot model, 6-MOA dot model and 8-MOA dot model. The definition of the dot is great. There are 10 brightness intensity levels to choose from, which suffices for all situations. C-more states that the battery hold for 300-1500 hours, depending on the brightness intensity on which the device runs. To turn the device off, the user has to press either one of buttons for setting the intensity for 3 seconds. If by some reason the device is left powered on, it will turn off automatically after 8 hours of inactivity.

Conclusion

In sport shooting competitions it is important to be quick and accurate. RTS2‘s design is based on that criterion. This is a great choice for those who seek a light, compact device with great optical capabilities and a robust body. In our opinion, this is the best red dot sight for handguns currently on the market.
